Dixon Dance Studio opened its doors in 2001, founded by Amy and Staci Forrest with a simple mission: to create a joyful, welcoming space where local children could discover the magic of dance. What began as a small community studio quickly grew into a beloved home for dancers of all ages, shaped by the passion, dedication, and heart of the Forrest family.
Over more than two decades, the studio became a pillar in the Dixon community — a place where thousands of dancers learned not only technique, but confidence, discipline, and belonging. Under the leadership of Amy Forrest Stokes and supported by her family, Dixon Dance Studio developed a reputation for warm, intentional teaching and a deep commitment to nurturing young artists.
The studio’s legacy extends far beyond performances and classes. It is woven into childhood memories, lifelong friendships, and the stories of dancers who grew up in its hallways. Many DDS alumni went on to dance professionally, teach, or return as parents — a testament to the foundation built in those early years.
In 2023, the studio entered a new chapter as longtime student and DDS alumna Morgan Kate Hicks stepped into the role of owner. Morgan grew up at Dixon Dance Studio and carries forward its history with deep gratitude, respect, and a clear vision for its future. Today, DDS stands proudly on the legacy created by the Forrest family while continuing to grow, evolve, and welcome the next generation of dancers into its home.

first walked into Dixon Dance Studio not long after it opened — just a kid taking one class a week with Miss Amy. One class quickly became three, then four, then as many as she (and my parents) would allow. This studio became my home almost immediately. It’s where I learned to work hard, take up space, and trust myself.
Miss Amy shaped me in ways I didn’t understand until much later. She saw potential in me long before I could see it in myself. By the time I was 16, I knew I wanted to own a studio someday — not for the sake of running a business, but to create the same kind of home she created for me.
That dream followed me through my dance major at UCSD and all the way to New York City, where I continued training and performing. No matter where I went, the foundation I built at DDS stayed with me.
Stepping into ownership of Dixon Dance Studio is an honor I don’t take lightly. I’m grateful to Miss Amy and the entire Forrest family for trusting me with something so meaningful. I’m equally grateful to the incredible teachers and staff who pour their hearts into our dancers every single day.
I love this studio deeply — the kids who run through the doors, the families who support them, and the shared joy that fills these rooms. DDS shaped me, and now I get to help shape its next chapter.
I’m committed to honoring where we came from and excited for where we’re headed. And more than anything, I want every dancer who walks into DDS to feel what I felt: a true home, a place to belong, and a space to grow into who they’re meant to be.
At Dixon Dance Studio, we teach with joy, intention, and integrity. We believe in strong foundations, kind leadership, and creating a place where dancers feel safe to grow, take risks, and discover who they are. Our training blends discipline with creativity, structure with fun, and high standards with heart. Above all, we want every dancer to feel at home here — seen, supported, and inspired to become the best version of themselves.
